Über mich

For as long as we can remember, we have had a dream, like so many, of owning a boat and sailing off into the sunset. and we have now started to fulfill that dream and have just purchased our first, and hopefully, our last boat. She is a very lovely ‘Trader 39 Trawler Yacht’ We have renamed her ‘Carlina’ and look forward to many happy times aboard her. We are not too nieve to think that everything will be plain sailing, so to speak, but we are determined to enjoy and get as much from the experience and relate many of our stories and adventures for you to follow with us, here, on our website.

Segelerfahrungen

The love affair that Bobbie and I have had with the sea and sailing started many years ago with our then young family enjoying the delights of Flotilla Holidays and that is when we made a promise to ourselves that one day we would sail off on our own boat to enjoy all the different aspects that a life afloat can offer.

So here we are now the very proud owners of our Motor Yacht. Yes a MotorYacht, which might seem rather strange to those of you that have known us over the years, with us going on about how wonderful it is to go sailing etc. etc. Let me explain. On our last sailing holiday in July 2009, we came to quite a significant decision that because of age and medically related conditions, sailing a yacht was probably something that we could no longer safely undertake, hence the refocusing of our plans, and that is how we have now purchased ‘Carlina’. We certainly feel that she will look after us well, and she is a wonderful compromise. We purchased her in September 2009 after extensive and exhaustive searches on the internet. She was for sale in Benalmadena Spain where we hope to leave her for a year and carry out some cosmetic work and then set off sometime next year for our eventual goal of Greece and Turkey. We would like to see as many places as we can on the way so expect the trip to take two to three years with us spending approx three to four weeks at a time on her throughout the summer months. whilst still commutting from the UK until Bobbie finally retires. This is a very flexible plan that is certainly open to change. It’s good to have a plan anyway, all be it a very loose one. So please visit us here from time to time to see how we are getting on.
