Über mich

I am a solo sailor from San Francisco California. I’ve been sailing Mexico and the pacific coast for the last 5 years. I have owned FAN and lived on her off and on for 3 years. I hope to keep sailing till I decide not to. I have been working as a machinist all of my adult life and find those skills pretty handy when things break. As a single hander I am always looking for company or crew. I always have a pot of coffee to share.

Segelerfahrungen

I’ve been on boats most of my adult life. My Rawson 30 sloop Sanctuary was my home and is currently in San Carlos Sonora Mexico. The 2013 season I’ll be aiming for Costa Rica and the Central American pacific coast. I’ve sailed San Francisco bay and the northern California coast for 2 decades now and I’m pretty confident about my abilities to stay out of trouble and find good weather or avoiding bad weather. I learned to sailed in 8 foot dinghy’s. I have skippered 25’ sloops 30’ foot sloops a 38’ ketch, and crewed on other sailing vessels. I did a little amateur racing in the 1980’s and have studied offshore navigation and self reliance for as long as I’ve been sailing. I’ve been certified in first aid so many times I lost count. I am a minimalist about sailboats and prefer to keep a simple rig that is reliable and easily controlled even though it ends up being a little more work to run the boat. I am still learning and find that to be one of the great things about sailing.
