15.06.2010

Early start again today, left the harbour at6 am with the sun just rising and a gentle breeze.  The forecast for today was 22 knots of westerly wind, no doubt it will catch us on the way to Turkey.

The sea picked up quite a chop but the wind only reached 11 knots and when we rounded the headland into Fethiye bay, the sea calmed, the wind died and when we finally got to Kizilkuyrak Koyu, it was tranquil and calm.  Two gullets were moored in the bay and three other yachts and we anchored as far in as possible, the water 10 metres deep here, and took a line to shore tied around a rock.  All we could hear were the insects and crickets buzzing on the hills around us – perfect peace.

Many gullets arrived and anchored and others left, obviously a popular place for the locals.  The wind picked  up as forecast and gusted down into the bay, at one point, our stern line lifted off the rock and Brian had to quickly get it tied back around the rock again.

During the evening we were attacked by wasps as soon as we started to eat our evening meal – where do they just appear from?  The wind calmed down to a constant breeze all through the night.
