Back into our berth at Poros and that is it for this trip for me.

All I have to do now is work out how to get back to Preveza to pick up my flight home. The boatyard owner suggest that instead of getting the Flying Dolphin to Piraeus, across Athens to the Coach Station, and a coach from there, it might be easier to get a bus to Corinth and pick up the coach when it stops at Corinth Coach Station.

I have some friends sailing off Lefkada and I arrange to meet them on the Saturday night and stay with them on their boat for the night.

Getting bus information is a bit difficult as the bus office in Galatas (the village on the mainland opposite Poros) apparently only opens when there is a bus coming in.

Anyway it turns out that there is ONE bus to Corinth (advertised as to Athens) on a Saturday, leaving at 11:15 and that I can connect with a bus to Levkada at 14:00. (If you want to get to Preveza the bus on Saturday ia 14:30 from Corinth (N.B. in May 2009))

It proves to be an interesting bus trip as it follows the coast back towards Corinth. On the hill above Epidavros we are told to all get off and wait for another bus that will “be along soon” (I think that the driver had so few passengers that he phoned his mate to see if he had enough room and when he said yes then told us that we had to change.)

The new bus arrives and we all get aboard and then switchbacks along to the coach station at Corinth where we wait for our various onward connections.

Buy the coach ticket there, and then on we go along the Gulf of Corinth, over the Patras Bridge, along the Gulf of Patras to Messalonghi and then we cut inland to eventually come to the Gulf of Amthraki east of Preveza and then to Levkas via Vonitsa.

It took me 13 days to sail down and about 7 hours to get back by bus!

The Saronic Gulf looks interesting, I wonder if I can manage to come back for another trip to explore further later in the year?
