Shakedown Cruise to Belfast, Maine
White Knuckle Day
28.09.2009
The day started out calm, sunny and the seas were relativley flat. When we got outside of Wilson’s cove, we felt Poseidon’s fury. The seas were a lot bigger than the 6 to 8 feet, according to Bob the electronic weather recording. I was stearing and the motor was down. Spruce thought we should have the jib help out. Check out the scarry video. We tried to anchor at Cape Small but the following seas, coupled with the rocks on either side made it difficult and gave us a weird feeling. We decided that Cundy’s Harbour was a better choice. So the decision was made to anchor in Dingley Cove.
When all the chores were done, we decide to go ashore to meet the local people and see the sights. On the dock we met two lobstermen, (See Pictures). We then
stopped at Watson’s General Store. We are eternal grateful for the hot dogs and chips. The owner of the store told me the waves were really 10 feet and her lobstermen did not go out! Tonight we charge battery number two and hopefully we do not have to bask in the warm glow of the GPS for anchor watch.
