Day Skipper Practical - Clyde
Loch Goil to Inverkip
20.05.2010
Day 5 – no sailing today, less than 5Kn wind and a damp fog. We did get to see some more dolphins though, so it wasn’t a complete waste!
Holy Loch to Loch Goil Head
19.05.2010
Day 4 – heading up into the quiet north, with a lovely downwind run up the sea lochs. The SBS guarding the nuclear deports diodn’t seem much interested in us, so a lovely day sail, arriving at the picturesque Loch Goil Head.
Tarbert to Holy Loch
18.05.2010
Day 3 – Long day. Beat down to Loch Ranza on Arran for lunch lurching around on a swinging buoy (no small buoy, devil to pick up) then broad reach across to Millport to wait for dark, then night passage up the Clyde to the Holy Loch.
This was our qualifying night passage for RYA Day Skipper, so a bit of a tense new experience getting through the moored boats outside of the marina…
Loch Riddon to Tarbert
17.05.2010
Day 2 – On duty as Skipper for the day, plan and manage the passage from Loch Riddon to Tarbert, via anchoring off Inchmarnock for lunch.
Inverkip Marina to Loch Riddon
16.05.2010
Day 1 – Picked up the Bavaria 36 in Inverkip Marina, and after some familiarisation, head up to Loch Riddon.
