Nidri is a very busy little tourist town which may be shopping heaven for any shopaholics. Shops, tavernas, cafes it has them in plenty.
It also no longer has as much traffic on its main street!
This used to be part of the main route down the length of Lefkada and was always a problem as coaches and trucks tried to pick their way between parked cars etc.
About 10 years or so ago they started to build a by-pass and built half of it… Well half a bypass isn’t a lot of use so we used to call it the road to nowhere. Surprise! Finally the northern section of the bypass is now in place and the through traffic can avoid Nidri’s main street!
They must have opened it in the last three years since I was last here.
