Today is the Sabbath for the locals and a lot of shops, offices and even buses do not open or operate.  They start their weekend on Friday afternoon, closing at 1 p.m., Sunday being a working day.

The marina is very nice with a huge shopping mall just next to it with lots of famous name shops like Tommy Hillfiger, Timberland, Quicksilver, Gap, etc and a very large supermarket on the top floor – very handy.  The showers here are new and still in the process of being finished, the only downside is that they are mixed (both men and women use the same shower room) and there is a laundry with two commercial washing machines and two dryers.   There are nice sandy  beaches to the north and south of the marina which are very busy with the local people. 

We made several phone calls to try and get a berth booked for a week in Southern Cyprus – St. Raphael Marina in Limassol is fully booked, Larnaca Marina is fully booked.  The only way we can return to Cyprus is to go to Famagusta to check in through customs and then go to Karpaz Gate marina.  We have agreed to leave on Wednesday morning with Belle Helene and Skysong and arrive in Famagusta on Thursday afternoon – This will be a 185 mile journey taking about 30 hours depending on wind and how fast we can go.
